Still kickin'!

No need to send out distress signals... I'm still here and baby is still kicking.

I guess I tend to clam up when I don't have any Boomer news.  He is doing well.  Getting fat and furry.  It has been getting pretty cold here, so I pretty much just go out to see him as the weather changes to rotate his blankets.  It gives me a little purpose since there isn't much reason for me to go out there otherwise.

It is sort of hard to comprehend how fast these last few months have gone by!  I LOVE being pregnant and have had a really easy time of it so far.  No morning sickness or swelling.  No health complications.  No complaints!  I did struggle with exhaustion in the first trimester during the heat of summer.  Luckily, I don't have to work and was able to nap as needed.  The second trimester has been a breeze and has flown by.  Next week will be the start of the third trimester, which is mind blowing to me!  March still seems so far away!

I thought you all might enjoy a picture progression of my growing self!

We were able to find out the gender at our 21 week sonogram and we are delighted to be expecting a BABY GIRL!!!!  The technology is incredible and you can see such amazing detail on the scans.  We were able to see her little ribs and bones, her stomach, and most amazingly her heart beating.

This has been an amazing journey so far and John and I are both so excited for Baby Girl to make her arrival in March!

Awww...that's wonderful news. Congratulations on your sweet baby girl and may the third trimester be just as great as the first two!

What a great photo journal! I don't know if I'd ever think of that but it is very, very cool! I'm glad all is well and I'm so happy for you! Are you guys still discussing names? CONGRATS - you will have a horse-crazy little girl! Wonderful!

Thanks! We have decided on a name, but are leaving it open for discussion until the birth certificate is printed :)

Oh just stumbled on your blog..very cute pics! So I'm curious..do u still ride? Just wondering what future Moms do when faced with that... :)

Kristen- Thanks for stopping by! I didn't know what to expect as far as riding goes when we were planning the pregnancy. I sort of thought I would just keep on riding until I got too big. I ended up riding regularly for the first 3 months, even did a 50 mile endurance ride! Then suddenly, I just my mothering instinct kicked in and I couldn't justify the risk. Happened shortly after we saw Baby Girl on the ultrasound for the first time :) which made things seem very real. I dropped down to riding maybe once per week, then every other week. The last time I rode was about a month ago, when I just hopped on bareback for a short trail ride. I don't really plan to ride for the next three months.
Overall, I think I will probably start back up about a month after baby arrives, which isn't that big of a deal because we only have an outdoor arena and we get a pretty harsh winter. So, I'm not really missing much.

That sounds perfect to me. I always wonder..when we get pregnant, what will I do?! I guess, it's a 'wait and see' type of thing. There are days where my sweet Laz is a pony face lazy boy and other days where he's a wicked rocket. lol! Your horse and pup are too cute!

That is the biggest thing I have learned in the last 6 months... You can't plan for how any of it will effect you. I know it is cliched, but pregnancy really does change everything. I will never stop being 'horsey' or stop loving my horse. I will never stop riding. But, honestly, I know it will no longer be my first priority. I am OK with that. I never would have thought i would be OK with that, but that is another unexpected change. I feel totally OK with the horse becoming a passive hobby rather than an over-involved obsession.
