Charley's new trick!!!

I have long thought that Charley was unable to learn anything new. I figured he was too old and his balls too attached. However, I have become determined to teach him to roll over. He knows sit, shake, down, stay, heel, load up (into the truck), go (get out of the way), and come (unless he is distracted). Those are all needed dog skills, except shake, and I thought Charley needed more real tricks in his life. John was dubious, but Charley is treat motivated! So, here is Charley's new trick:

Now that Charley has almost mastered 'roll over', I'm trying to think of other tricks to teach him. Unfortunately, he is too top heavy to be able to balance on his back feet for 'raise the roof'. Leave a comment with your dog's best trick and tips for teaching it and we will work on learning it!!!

Here is another picture of the new couch with throw pillows and a blanket from target:

I LOVE the blanket:

My dog knows how to spin in both directions, and weave through my legs. She also knows how to bow.

Those are great! I think bowing is a good next trick. However I just realized that Charley needs to learn 'stand up' first! He immediately sits or lays down when I look like I might have a treat/ask him for something.

Our big German Shepherd male knows peek-a-boo. He lays on his side and puts each paw over his eyes when I say so and it's a great way to get people to be unafraid!

That is so cute! I have always loved German Shepherds, I think they are too cool!

Awwww - I love Charlie! Booker could 'big bark' and 'whisper'... he was a talker tho so I'd reward him for a soft noise and then get him really wound up for the BIG noise and paired it with the commands...

Next you could teach Charlie to lie down on a blanket, hold a corner of the blanket and roll... pig in a blanket! hee hee!

I also have always liked play dead when I shoot them and say "BANG!"... I'm a pretty lousy shot but when they finally die, everyone is laughing....

Pig in a blanket had me laughing out loud! What a great idea! BANG! is one that I want to teach him as well, though I want to let 'roll over' get solidified before trying it so the poor little guy doesn't get confused! Dogs are so fun!
